Jessica Patterson lives in Frederick with her two sons. She has been providing commercial and architectural photography in the dmv area for 13 years, as well as family portraiture. Outside of photography and being a super human mom Jessica enjoys painting, hiking, kayaking, serving the community and running!

Season 2, Edition 89 of the ValorLives Interview Series we have Derek Shackelford! Woot! Woot!!
Dr. Derek Shackelford was born in Frederick, Maryland and is the youngest son of Delores and the late Thomas Shackelford. He is happily married to Rev. Charlotte Janell Shackelford and is the proud father of two children Shamara and Derin.
Dr. Shackelford graduated from Frederick Community College with an Associate in Arts Degree and from George Mason University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science. He also holds a Masters of Divinity Degree and an earned Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary. Dr. Shackelford is the Founder of City of Hope Ministries, teacher and has served on numerous boards, commissions and non-profit organizations. Dr. Shackelford has also guest lectured at Colleges and Universities across the country.
He is the former Pastor of Camp Hill Wesley/Engle United Methodist Church in West Virginia. He is also the former Head Basketball Coach at Frederick High School and assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Frederick Community College.
Dr. Shackelford also played collegiate basketball at George Mason University, professional basketball for 3 years and is currently an NCAA College Basketball Official.
Dr. Shackelford is a current member of Who’s Who in Professional Management and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He has also received numerous awards such as the Negro Professional Business Women’s Award, Know About Me living Legend Award, Stand for Children Mentor Award, and was selected as one of the People to Watch in 1999 by Frederick Magazine. In February 2012, he was inducted into the Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame and The Frederick Community College Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. He is a regular contributor and writer for several news publications and is the author of the “Power Pill: 90 Daily Prescriptions For Encouragement” which is a nationally published book. Rev. Shackelford is an author, leadership developer, preacher and social activist. He is a frequent guest commentator on radio and television programs.
The Cianci family members are long time members of The Little Gym family, first in Fayetteville, NC, and then in Las Vegas, NV (their hometown). They moved to Frederick last year when they were seeking their forever home and fell in love with the people and the area!
Tiffany and Ryan are parents to Evie (15), Pippy (4), and Riley (1). They own a home in Adamstown. They are regular fixtures in the gym, and lovingly refer to this place as “their village.”

Tiffany is a former ballet student of seventeen years, and graduate in the performing arts. Since taking over the gym, they have been thrilled to enact many improvements, including a full renovation, extensive corporate retraining, exterior improvements, improved scheduling and cleaning routines, new lobby furnishings, and soon we will be welcoming back the pro shop, and updated dance studio, with so much more to look forward to!

Zach Davis is a lifelong martial artist running the Fort Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Frederick, MD. After competing professionally he was sidelined with an eye injury and now has turned his focus to spreading the benefits of self defense and martial arts to the next generation.
Today on Season 2, Edition 82 of the ValorLives Interview Series we have Chelcee Loar of Chelcee’s Rodan and Fields Skin Care! Woot! Woot!!
Chelcee is 31 years old, born and raised in Maryland! Not only a mom to three beautiful children, two boys and a girl; a geriatric nursing assistant, doing in-home care for the elderly. She always had the heart and passion working with the elderly, but also ha a passion for skin care . When Chelcee came across Rodan and Fields, she was immediately taken back with the results! Chelcee had first heard about it through a friend of hers from high school. She loved the fact that it was anti-aging and number one in skin care in North America!
Being a single mom of three kids, Chelcee knew that that fighting wrinkles was going to be a priority! When she decided to start selling Rodan and Fields because she wanted other women to be comfortable in their own skin, like she has become. Never leaving the house without make up, was not going to be an option for me anymore.
Rodan and Fields gave her her confidence back with having clear skin and not needing an ounce of make up.
It wasn’t about the money for her, because she was already working, but having the ability to do extra things with her kids has been very beneficial. The income is above and beyond more than she ever dreamed of.

Kelly is a mom of 3 preschoolers, wife, leader, fitness instructor, grammar nazi, and natural marketer. When something’s great, she needs to tell people! Kelly is passionate about helping people and turned her 15+ year career in the radio industry into a successful digital marketing consultancy. She started Changeup Marketing in October of 2016 after leaving a job she loved because she felt God was calling her to help small businesses locally after seeing what a thriving business community was in Frederick. Kelly believes business owners should be able to focus on their business while her team jumps in to help shine a light online on the great stuff they’re accomplishing. Changeup recently joined forces with Enradius, a boutique digital firm out of Baltimore, but is offering the same services and Kelly is infinitely passionate about serving the Frederick area. Grown up in Ebensburg, PA, Laurel Caurvina moved to Frederick in 2012 on a quest to better her life. Laurel and her father, Dave, had a crazy idea to purchase Churchill Auto Care in 2014 in an effort to create a more positive automotive repair service, and continue to work hard to provide Frederick residents with a great experience. In what is left of her spare time, Laurel enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing guitar, and visiting historic locations. In the next 10 years, Laurel plans to own another business in Frederick and travel to see the 7 World Wonders.

Beth Mende Conny, the founder of Write Directions, is a book fanatic. She not only writes books but coaches others on how to do the same. Books, she believes, have the power to change lives in personal and professional ways. Beth came up through the ranks as a newspaper reporter, feature writer and syndicated columnist. Her work has appeared in the Washington Post, Denver Post and weeklies and monthlies across the country.
